These days, hybrid technology seems to be the driving force for all automotive majors. Be it Audi, Mercedes, Ford, General Motors, Volkswagen or Porsche. The companies are leaving no efforts to ensure that their hybrid models are ready in time to bite the electric car bait that is gathering strength.

One of the most interesting facets of the Geneva Motor Show has been the emergence of hybrids. And Porsche did not let its lovers feel bad by showcasing the 918 Spyder. One cursory glance at the 918 Spyder meant that the car merited a close discussion. It raised eyebrows and it captured the attention of news reporters and technical analysts as well.

Looking at its essentials, the Porsche 918 will have a hybrid technology engine. The concept car boasts of a 3.4 litre engine that is capable of generating a 500 bhp raw power. It can zip past from 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds. Top speed is 198 mph and fuel efficiency is 78 mpg. And if you are a follower of automotive industry, then these essentials will drive you nuts. CO2 emissions are expected in the range of 70 gm/Km, thus making it cleaner than many other hybrid variants. A 7-speed PDK gearbox powers the car. Weight of the car is 3250 lbs and this is chiefly because of predominant use of aluminium and magnesium in body parts.
